TRIP DESCRIPTION

First let me thank:
Bruce ( Ole ) Ohlson. This trip was originally Ole's idea.

Ole is a friend of Jim's. Both live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Jim came home from his coast to coast trip and told Ole how much fun it was, and that he wanted to tour again soon. Ole suggested a perimeter ride around the United States. Jim liked the idea and planned the trip while Ole was touring in South America. Unfortunately Ole injured his knee while cycling in Chili. Ole is now recovering; however, regretfully he is unable to tour with us as originally planned.

Myron, Chris and Jim will begin cycling the perimeter of the United States around January 14th,2002. We will ride counter clockwise beginning and finishing in San Diego, California. We will travel self contained, which means we carry everything we need for the trip on our bikecycles. (example: tent, sleeping bag, food, water, clothes, stove, rain gear. etc.). All of us are using BOB trailers to carry our gear. The trailer hooks to the back of the bikes and you pull it as a car would a trailer. We estimate the trip to be approximately 12 months and 12,000 miles long. We designed the trip to be more of an adventure, rather than a planned trip with a schedule and preplanned route. We want to be spontainious so we will plan our route as we go along. The only criteria we have is to be over the Cascade Mountains in Washington before the snow closes the road. in the fall of 2002.

We are looking forward to seeing America and her people. We have a beautiful diverse country with its oceans, mountains, deserts, and forests. The American people are among the most generous caring people anywhere. We want to meet our people. We could have toured many other countries but we chose our own. We want to discover for ourselves the beauty of America and her people.

We hope that you will follow us as will slowly discover America. We encourage you to contact us with any questions you may have or words if encouragement. We will do our very best to answer your inquiries. We will make web entries as time and convenience allows, hopefully weekly.

Keep it Simple,
MCJ
