Myron is the one on the right.

MYRON

Myron aka
Wyron is the most inquizitive person I have ever met. He is forever asking what makes that work?  Why is that? How is that made? etc. Myron is the oldest and youngest person on the trip. He will turn 70 years old on March 14, 2002  yet, he acts like the youngest. He is also the most physically fit person on the trip. If Myron was a cartoon character I think he would be Tigger from Winnie The Pooh. He is curious about everything and always bounding from here to there. In the past 5 years Myron has ridden from Canada to Mexico all on dirt trails along the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains. He has also ridden from Missoula, Montana to  Anchorage, Alaska and from Virginia to Oregon. All these rides he has done fully loaded, (that has nothing to do with alcohol). It means that he carried all his gear on his bike (ie. his tent, sleeping bag, clothes, food, etc.). Myron attributes his good health to daily exercise, healthy eating and a lifetime of supplements. He uses Life Extentions Supplements, as well as Heba Medicine Green Tea. Myron rides a bicycle built for him by Jericho Bikes. It was designed to work specifically with the Rohloff Hub and disk brakes. Myron is retired from Rancho Santa Fe Security Systems, a business he started 1979 with only one customer. The business and its 150 employees are in the capible hands of his daughter Denise and her husband Ron.

When Myron finishes this bike ride, he will be entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest person to bicycle around the perimeter of the United States.  You go for it Myron!

How I got into cycling:

I started jogging in the 1960's when Dr. Ken Kooper's book on arobics came out. At the same time I got into water sking. I entered the Long Beach to Catilina ski race and one my divission. I was hooked. I began to enter races including the Saltriver project lakes in Phoenix and races on Lake Mead as well as, on the Colorado river.

In 1985 I had orthoscopec Surgery on ny knee and had to stop jogging and sking. My father bought my daughter and I new mountain bikes. They hung in the garage for a year. One day my daughter came home from Jr. High wanting to do a "bike for breath" ride for asthmatic children. We struggled the 100 miles and she won a touring type bicycle. We then began doing fun ride events on week-ends. My daughter accelled at these evernts. She began to ride keeping up with the racers at the front of the race. Some of the guys were upset that they could'nt beat a 13 year old girl. Others said, " get her a racing bike". She wanted a pink Vitus but all they had was blue. One day a few weeks later I was driving into the garage with her bike on the roof of the car and I smashed her bike. That is how she finaly got her pink bike. I got a $500. repair bill.

To make a long story short my daughter went on to become:
The junior national champion for road and track  in 1988.
1990 she got 4th.place for the worlds road race Jr. womans campionship.
In 1991 she got 2nd. place for worlds downhill championships in Italy.
She now runs my bussiness with 150 employees, has a husband and 3 young boys. This is enough to keep her busy but, she does go to a health club.

I'm now enjoing my retirment. I like to mountain bike ride in the local hills. I'm always ready for a long ride so I'm looking forward to this years ride. I'm also thinking about a ride thru europe next year.

Stay Healthy,
Myron
