| Myrons Daily Journal - Page 16 May 3, 2004 Here I am in LA at the Bradley terminal waiting on Robert from work. He is stuck in traffic. Called him and he said he is moving at about 10 miles/hour. Back to miles, pounds, and quarts, driving on the right side of the road and, oh yes, major traffic delays and pennies. How I wish they could get rid of the last two here in the US. NZ and Australia have minor traffic delays and have rid themselves of pennies. Got concerned while I was waiting for my flight from Coolangatta to Auckland. The plane experience strong headwinds coming over to Australia from NZ. It was 50 minutes late leaving Coolangatta going back to Auckland. It left at 10:25AM instead of 9:33AM. I didn't know about the headwinds while I was waiting for it to arrive in Coolangatta. It would normally arrive in Auckland at 2:30PM. Add 50 min to that and you get an arrival time of 3:20PM. I could not have my bike and bags transferred automatically to air NZ and the flight would leave Auckland for LA at! 4:15PM. If I could stay in the customs area, I would need to collect my baggage and then take them to air NZ and get them processed onto the flight to LA, all in 55 minutes. Needless to say, I saw myself missing my flight to LA. Along came an angel for a stewardess by the name of Stacey. After letting her know of my dilemma, she radioed ahead to have someone meet me and expedite my luggage. They directed me to the correct counter and had someone transfer my luggage from freedom air to air NZ for me. I did not see or have to handle the luggage at all. All I had to do was get myself to the air NZ gate. I had more time than was originally expected because the freedom flight had good headwinds returning to Australia. I am very aware of headwinds and tailwinds because of nearly 50,000 miles of bicycling. Needless to say, I was very happy to see my luggage when I arrived in LA. Again, thanks a lot Stacey for going beyond the call of duty. Monday. May 10, 2004 I am writing this to inform everyone that I will be checking this e-mail site maybe once a week at best. I may eventually delete it completely until my next bike trip. For anyone who wants to contact me, please use myron@rsfsecurity.com, I usually check it daily. Thanks, Myron |
